Happy Ganesh Chaturthi! Ganesh chaturthi is celebrated on the fourth lunar day (Chaturthi tithi ) as per Hindi lunar month of Bhadrapada. Moon during Ganesh chaturthi will be in waxing phase also known as Shukla Paksha. Ganesha is considered as the Lord of beginnings, lord of intellect, good luck, and prosperity. Ganesha as Vighnaharta, is the known for removing Obstacles according to Hindu mythology.
Gananam Tva Ganapatim havamahe… is the most sacred Vedic mantra used to invoke Lord Ganesha before beginning any vedic chanting or performing sacred rituals or starting any auspicious activity.
Prayers are offered to invoke Lord Ganesha followed by seeking blessings from navagraha devata (nine planets) to minimise the ill effects of planets as indicated in birth chart.
Ganesha is said to have the light of million Suns (koti Surya samaprabha). While not specifically a solar deity in Vedic astrology, Lord Ganesha ruling over all the planets similar to Sun is worthy to note.
